Renaming a database alias¶

The alias is the friendly name a database shows under in the tree panel. Renaming it affects only how the database is labelled in SQLite Expert — it does not rename or move the underlying file.

To rename a database alias:

Select the database in the tree panel.
Choose File → Rename Database Alias from the main menu.
Enter the new alias and confirm.

An alias must be unique, so you cannot give two open databases the same name.

Tip

Meaningful aliases make a big difference when you have several databases open at once — for example sales_live and sales_backup are much easier to tell apart than two files both called data.db3.
