Renaming a table¶
To rename a table:
- Select the table in the tree panel.
-
Choose Table → Rename Table from the main menu.

-
Enter the new name and click OK.
Renaming a table also updates everything in the database that refers to it — views, triggers, indexes, and foreign key references in other tables — so the objects around it keep working.
Note
Because the new name has to be carried into every dependent object, every object in the database must be valid for the rename to go ahead — not only the ones connected to this table. If one of them no longer works, a view built on a table that has since been deleted say, the rename is refused and SQLite Expert tells you which object is at fault. Nothing is changed. Correct or delete that object and the rename will succeed.
This is deliberate: renaming a table while such an object exists would leave more of the schema broken, silently. See Applying the changes.
