Releasing a Savepoint¶
Releasing a savepoint removes it and folds its changes into the surrounding transaction (or into the enclosing savepoint, if there is one). It is the savepoint equivalent of a commit: the work done since the savepoint is accepted and can no longer be undone with a rollback to that savepoint. Releasing does not by itself write anything to disk — that happens when the outermost transaction is committed.
To release a savepoint:
- Select the database in the tree panel.
- Choose Transaction → Release… from the main menu.
- Select the name of the savepoint to release.
You can also release one from a script with the RELEASE command:
The keyword SAVEPOINT is optional, so RELEASE before_import; is equivalent.
Note
Releasing the outermost savepoint — one that started its own transaction — commits the whole transaction.
