Known Issues

These are limitations in the underlying SQLite engine rather than in SQLite Expert, along with the recommended way to work around each one.

Invalid field names in views

If you create a view from several tables using quoted identifiers but don't give the columns aliases, the resulting view can have invalid field names. This is a known SQLite behaviour — see the SQLite bug list for details.

Tip

Use field aliases when you create a view. The integrated Query Builder generates unique aliases automatically, so views built with it are not affected.

Syntax error in queries using databasename.tablename.*

This query:

select databasename.tablename.* from databasename.tablename

returns:

near "*": syntax error

However, naming the column explicitly works:

select databasename.tablename.fieldname from databasename.tablename

This is a SQLite issue and has been reported to www.sqlite.org.
