Exporting data to Open Document Spreadsheet (ODS)

Export the contents of a data grid to an OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods) file — the open standard used by LibreOffice Calc and Apache OpenOffice Calc, and also readable by Microsoft Excel.

To export a grid to ODS:

  1. Right-click the grid and choose Export to Open Document Spreadsheet (ODS).
  2. In Open Document Spreadsheet export options, give the file a name and click OK.

Include BLOB data

A BLOB has no text form, so a spreadsheet cell cannot hold one. Left to itself the export writes the word (blob) where the value was, and the bytes are not in the file.

Tick Include BLOB data and each BLOB is written instead as x'…' — its bytes in hexadecimal — which the spreadsheet import reads back as a BLOB.

The option, and the two limits that come with it, work exactly as they do for Excel: see Include BLOB data there for the full description, the comparison table, and the 32,767-character cell limit.
