Editing a table¶
You can change the structure of an existing table at any time โ add or remove columns, adjust the primary key, add indexes or foreign keys, and so on โ using the same visual designer you use to create a table.
To edit a table:
- Select the table in the tree panel.
-
Go to the Design tab.

-
Make your changes on the Design sub-tabs:
- Apply the changes.
When you apply the changes, SQLite Expert applies them directly where SQLite allows it, and otherwise restructures the table and copies your existing data into the new structure โ see Applying the changes after editing a table. You can preview exactly what it will do on the Change Script tab before committing.
Note
Restructuring a table is restricted while a transaction is in progress and another table's foreign keys reference it. Changes SQLite applies in place, a column rename among them, are not restricted. See Limitations for the details.
