Copying fields, indexes, constraints and triggers using the clipboard¶
When you are designing tables, you can copy columns, indexes, constraints, and triggers from one table and paste them into another — a quick way to reuse a design instead of recreating it yourself.
To copy and paste columns:
- On the Columns sub-tab of the Design tab, select the column (or columns) you want.
- Click Copy.
- Open the target table's Columns tab and click Paste.
Indexes, constraints, and triggers work the same way — select them on their own sub-tab, click Copy, then Paste into the other table.
Tip
This pairs nicely with restructuring: copy a set of columns or a trigger from a template table into a new one, then apply the changes to build it in a single step.
