Committing a transaction

Committing a transaction makes every change you have made since the transaction started permanent, and returns the database to autocommit mode. Commit once you are satisfied that the whole group of changes is correct.

To commit the active transaction:

  1. Select the database in the tree panel.
  2. Choose Transaction → Commit from the main menu.

The changes are written to the database file and can no longer be undone with a rollback.

You can also commit from a script with the COMMIT command:

BEGIN TRANSACTION;

-- Raise every part's list price by 10%
UPDATE parts SET ListPrice = ListPrice * 1.10;

COMMIT;

COMMIT and END are interchangeable, and the trailing TRANSACTION keyword is optional.

Warning

A commit is final. If you are not certain the changes are correct, review the data on the Data tab first, or use a savepoint so you can undo part of the work before committing.
